- Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing, Simulation Lab Faculty
Description
Newberry College seeks a dynamic, student-centered Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing to serve as lead faculty for the simulation lab. This full-time, 12-month faculty position provides leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based learning experiences within the Nursing program. The successful candidate will bring expertise in clinical simulation, a commitment to innovative teaching, and a passion for preparing students to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate simulation activities that align with course objectives and program outcomes.
Manage day-to-day operations of the nursing simulation and skills laboratories, including scheduling, inventory, and maintenance of equipment and technology.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation and skills experiences across the curriculum.
Facilitate student learning through high-fidelity, low-fidelity, and virtual simulation experiences.
Train and mentor faculty and staff in simulation pedagogy, facilitation, and debriefing techniques.
Ensure compliance with best practices and national standards for simulation-based education.
Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation activities.
Teach 6-9 credit hours of Nursing courses (2-3 courses) per semester in area of expertise.
Maintain active scholarship and professional development consistent with faculty expectations and simulated laboratory design/ instruction.
Familiarity with competency-based, triage, and NCLEX/ Next-Gen instruction.
Serve on departmental and college committees and contribute to the mission and vision of Newberry College.
Requirements
Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from a CCNE accredited nursing program. Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina or multi-state compact license. Certification in Simulation Education (e.g., Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator – CHSE or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience with simulation technologies, including high-fidelity manikins, audiovisual systems, and simulation software. Minimum of three years of nursing education experience, with evidence of excellence in teaching and clinical instruction. Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree; Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing preferred.
Multi-state compact RN licensure. Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification from National League for Nursing (NLN). Experience developing and implementing simulation scenarios in pre-licensure nursing programs. Familiarity with INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulation. Experience with CCNE accreditation processes. Evidence of scholarly or professional contributions to simulation education
