Your opportunity
- Provision of high-quality clinical services for Mackay HHS as part of the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) at Mackay Base Hospital and Mackay Community Health.
- Educate Paediatric Trainees rotating from Children’s Hospital Queensland and medical staff comprising PHO/SHO/Intern medical officers, Allied Health staff, nursing staff and medical students.
- Work in a family-centred environment with seven other consultants championing excellence in interdisciplinary evidence-based care for children and adolescents with opportunity for research/academic appointment with James Cook University for the right candidate.
- Contribute to patient safety, audit, research, and service planning activities.
- This is a great role for newly minted or experienced FRACP.
- Opportunity for further extending clinical services to local Private health facilities.
Your role
- Provide clinical services for the health service in Mackay Child Adolescent Health Unit (0–18 years), Neonates (CSCF 4>32 w) and provide advice as needed via Telehealth to the HHS’s rural sites.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Community Paediatrics, General Paediatrics & Neonatal Medicine, Child, Adolescent & Behavioural Medicine as well as children with chronic & complex care requirements at the role delineation of the service.
- Ability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on-site within a reasonable time frame.
- Ability to manage the acute and deteriorating neonate and young child.
- Have completed or will be completing the Neoresus Facilitator training and recency of APLS.
- Foster the promotion of standards of excellence in the provision of clinical and public health services.
- Undertake teaching and educational initiatives and responsibilities within CAHS.
- Actively participate in patient safety activities, clinical audits, complaints management.
- Actively pursue evidence-based practice audit and research within CAHS.
- Have completed, or in the process of completing, the Supervisor Professional Development Program (SPDP) via the RACP (Paediatrics).

- It is a condition of this role for the employee to be and remain vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the attached role description.
