Description

Candidates should have a PhD in Biostatistics or a closely related field with 3 or more years of experience collaborating in translational or clinical research as a faculty statistician. A successful candidate is expected to have:

  • a record of achievement (publications and service as co-investigator or statistician on grants) to demonstrate the ability for successful collaborations
  • the ability to assimilate relevant information and initiate new areas of research, particularly in the area of design and analysis of imaging data, novel trial designs, or pragmatic clinical trials
  • leadership experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians and the ability to give scientific direction to a team of support staff working in a hybrid (some onsite and some remote) work environment
  • flexibility, creativity and excellent communication skills.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience collaborating in imaging research, pragmatic clinical trials, or trials in rare diseases. This position requires relocation to one of our three campuses. The Division of Clinical Trials and Biostatistics is comprised of 25 Ph.D. statisticians, 74 biostatisticians, and 120 statistical programmers, with members based at all 3 Mayo Clinic campuses (Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida). The Division contributes to research areas spanning from the basic science to translational research, clinical trials, and population health. Division staff collaborate with investigators within and outside of Mayo Clinic on thousands of active projects, covering a wide range of disciplines including cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, respiratory, cardiology, neurology, radiology, surgery, anesthesiology, nursing, laboratory medicine and pathology.

The Division’s unique collaboration model emphasizes the importance of disease area knowledge in the design and analysis of research studies by integrating a dedicated statistical team into research groups. Division staff develop, maintain, and promote state-of-the-art designs and analytical methods expertise and lead multiple initiatives surrounding study designs, data acquisition, data management, analyses, and interpretation of research studies.
