Summary

This Advanced Nurse Practice Nurse (APN) position is in Emergency Medicine Service at the Providence VA Medical Center. This position is intermittent with no set hours.

Duties

• The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Express Care to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
• The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
• Major duties include - but are not limited to: Independently provide direct patient care in an acute setting
• Order and interprets labs - testing - diagnostic studies
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
• Initiates referrals and specialty care consults as needed
• Provides education and their caregivers
• Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively within emergency medicine and with other interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to complete minor procedures unsupervised - such as simple laceration suturing - applying splints - incision and drainage - aspiration and injection of joints
